Calafell and Cunit demand urgent reinforcements to the express bus to Barcelona with at least one service per hour
Local councils warn the current service is insufficient following commuter rail disruptions
The councils of Calafell and Cunit have formally requested an immediate expansion of the express bus service connecting the towns with Barcelona. Their proposal calls for a minimum hourly frequency to meet growing demand.
Originally launched in September as a complement to rail services, the line has quickly become overcrowded. Recent train disruptions have significantly increased passenger numbers seeking reliable alternatives.
Although a fifth daily departure was recently added, buses are already full from their starting points, leaving many commuters unable to board.
Local leaders will meet with regional mobility authorities to present their demands, including earlier morning departures and weekend services.
